Hospice animal rescue is a specialized form of animal care that focuses on providing comfort, love, and dignity to animals who are nearing the end of their lives. Instead of seeking long-term adoption or intensive medical intervention, hospice rescue prioritizes the emotional and physical well-being of these animals, ensuring their final days are spent in warmth, safety, and compassion. At Twilight Whiskers we ensure these amazing animals spend their twilight days filled with comfort, good care, warm laps and love—ensuring these remarkable animals the chance to feel cherished and safe, honoring the unique spirit each one brings to the world.
Our Story
Twilight Whiskers was born from a simple act of friendship nearly forty years ago—a stray kitten found wandering the neighborhood, hungry and alone. That moment sparked a lifelong journey, leading to years spent volunteering at local shelters, raising and donating funds, teaching the importance of caring for animals, and discovering that every creature has a unique voice worth hearing.
Over the past decade, focus sharpened on helping more animals, rallying community support through financial donations, and standing up for animal rights. Centered on adopting the hard cases—those often overlooked due to behavioral challenges, neglect, abuse, histories of lab testing, health problems, advanced age, or simply being returned time and again. Each animal welcomed was another chance to show compassion and provide a safe haven.
Through these efforts, it became clear that hospice rescue was already part of our mission—offering comfort and dignity to animals who needed it most. This realization inspired the naming of Sunset Sanctuary House and, soon after, Twilight Whiskers. Our organization was founded on the belief that every animal deserves a gentle farewell, surrounded by warmth and love in their final days.
Twilight Friends, our healthy rescues, play a special role by providing companionship to those in hospice care, brightening their days and reminding us all of the joy animals bring. Looking ahead, Twilight Whiskers is committed to expanding resources, building a robust volunteer hospice foster program, growing Sunset Sanctuary House, and providing support for animal care and hospice. Our story continues with every life touched and every heart inspired to make a difference.
